Italo Calvino said: The more enlightened our houses are, the more their walls ooze ghosts. Describe the ghosts that live in t The ghosts that live in this house were once as human as you or I . Fate has dealt them a very bad hand. Once upon a time a young couple decided to get married and as a wedding present ,the brides parents gave them 20 acres. The grooms parents built them a small brick house to start their life together. So in the beginning these young people had some land and a little house to call their own. They worked hard clearing the land . Farming the land and they had a good life for awhile. Then one day the wife announced that she was pregnant and everyone was happy. There was all kinds of plans being made, a new room to add. Decisions to be made about the new arrival and a name needed to be chosen.
The wife started feeling bad . Of course this was morning sickness or so it was thought. She got past the first few months but the sick feeling did not go away. The doctors said this was normal and not to worry, so they didn’t,the next month saw the young wife barely getting out of bed in the morning and if she got up it wasn’t for long. The husband began to worry and soon decided the doctor was wrong and there was something wrong!.So he took his wife to another doctor far away in a big city. The doctor ran tests and decided there was something wrong.
The husband had to come home , the wife had to stay in the hospital for awhile. He mortgaged their house and land for the medical bills. He called her everyday but she wasn’t getting any better. Then one night very late he got a terrible call. His wife and child were dead. He brought them home and buried them in the family cemetery on the hill. The vietnam war had just started. In a attempt to forget everything he enlisted. He asked his parents to take care of their home and of course they agreed. He left soon after that. He fought alongside other Americans and he fought bravely. He often saved his comrades in arms. He was a local hero his parents were proud. He was a decorated war vet when he returned home.
He went into town one stormy afternoon. When he got to the store he new something was wrong. He relied on his senses that had kept him safe in the war. He took his pistol out from under the front seat of his car and put it in his jacket. As he went in, he could hear the sales clerk crying and he saw the masked men with a gun pointed at a childs head. He saw red! He shot all three of the robbers and they shot him. He died before the ambulance got there .
The newspapers said he was a hero and saved the child’s life. He was buried next to his family on the hill. His parents could not bring themselves to get rid of the house so it slowly deteriorated and fell apart. Some people say it is haunted. Others say it is the young couples ghosts reliving their past together in their new home.
